Final manifestations for Book 7?

I'm trying REALLY hard not to build up any solid expectations, because I wanna go in ~fresh~! they're already so far away from anything I thought would happen (not in a bad way, I'm just accepting that I'm on Miss Yana's Wild Ride at this point and we're seeing this thing through 'til the end, by gum). so it's nothing too major, but:

they've been handing new crying expressions out like candy lately, I want to see some delicious Malleus tears.

honestly I want everyone to cry buckets. their tears sustain me. the more Silver angst specifically I get the happier I am.

Also the fact that like Nani is pressured into giving up custody for Lilo because she doesn’t have insurance and can’t afford the hospital bill and she’s coerced into signing because then the state will cover it. I’m supposed to find that a heart warming moment when the social worker is showing that she cares about Nani and Lilo? Really? How is that not just financial coercion? How is that just not a criticism of the health care industry in America (that I’m sure they didn’t mean to do on purpose)

Also it’s so blatantly obvious how the writers of this movie have no idea why Nani sings Aloha 'Oe to Lilo the night she finds out she is going to be taken away. A YouTuber named Sideways, who analyzes music in film(and has done a whole video about how Disney’s live action remakes don’t work musically years before this) explained that scene so beautifully.

How the sond Aloha 'Oe was originally written by the Queen of Hawaii for the people of Hawaii after American Colonizers forced her to surrender the Islands. How she performed it as a last goodbye for the country that was being taken away from her. And that mirrors how Lilo is now being taken away from Nani by colonial forces (even tho Cobra Bubbles does mean well and sympathizes lilo is still being given into the care of the US government) and this is her subtle goodbye to her. And it’s fucking brilliant and you can tell that that scene was written by people that fucking care and know what the fuck kind of movie they are writing. The scene is solemn and is treated as such. Nani sings it as tho it were a lullaby and a final goodbye. It’s the first time the song is sang in the movie because the writers actually understand the gravity of it.

Instead what we get in the live action is lilo first singing it to Stitch randomly while doing (I think maybe the accompanying?) Hula because why the fuck not. And then a lifeless dark scene where Nani plays the ukulele and sings to her like the fact that she had just been coerced into giving up her sister wasn’t just treated like a good and final decision. Because, why the fuck not.

can't express accurately how happy it makes me that c.s. lewis did not leave room for many interpretations in narnia. it's christian and you can't get around it. susan chose to care more about worldly things than what matters and he said what he said. the lion is Jesus. evil is evil and good is good and people have to choose. and that makes some readers angry because it's nearly impossible to ignore and they want to ignore it. they want it to be something else and they can't make it something else without making it not narnia. love that. that is doing it right

Clark and lex just having a quiet moment sitting far away watching Kon while he’s on some mission, and lex promising he won’t get close because Clark was so kind in letting him at least have this before they return to their own world. Clark didn’t expect it to be painful for himself too, after learning that there’s this world where he has not just one son, but two, already here and already growing up, and it’s so hard to talk about this and lex is the one who understands most bc they share this through Kon. And it’s in the next few days after they return home that lex is feeling particularly vulnerable and emotional and keeps trying to write it off as the pain of knowing he’ll never see Kon again, until he’s cuddling with Bruce or Jason and they just go “hmm u smell pregnant” and lex sits up like GODDAMMIT CLARK YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE because of course Clark knew before anyone else

Clark just hitting Lex with the cryptic “I think you’ll see your son again…in a way” and then getting to smile and nod when Alfred tells him that Lex is pregnant after all…you glorious alpha Clark, being kind to Lex and letting him process his feelings first without hitting him with the 2x4 of “you’re pregnant but it’s not Kon” after all. Because he knew Lex needed time to grieve.

One thing I feel like people don't understand is Charles shooting one of the poachers. I see so many people saying how he's only standing up against poaching and animal abuse in general. I see people say he was cruel and cold.

But they're ignoring a huge part of real-world history; the fact that bison hunting was many natives' livelihood, what kept them fed and warm in the winter. Charles even mentions at the very beginning how important bison were to not only their culture but their very survival, and the mass killing and poaching of bison was a deliberate, calculated attempt to wipe out indigenous populations. Bison hunting was strongly encouraged by the government.

And sadly, it worked.

This is why Charles's rage feels, at minimum, somewhat justified. He's staring genocide straight in the face and he feels nothing but pure disgust and seething anger. I can't blame him for reacting the way he did.

During this discussion about wider ableism against Moonpaw, I've directly answered two anons about the contents of a post that was/IS extremely popular to the tune of nearly a thousand notes.

One of those two asks was an anon who only stumbled in to say that the post was funny in a display of SHOCKING tonedeafness, while I was talking about how shitty it is to compare people who are the products of incest to unethical dog breeds, especially in the context of WC. The other was an actual XX/XY chimera who expressed that the extremely popular post hurt their feelings, and when they tried to express discomfort to someone, got told they "probably killed their twin in the womb."

It's not just one rando weenie little blog the minute half of the Tumblr space is openly laughing at a joke about deformed incest kids and hoping Moonpaw dies because she's so "gross." Not nice?? Your feelings are hurt? OTHER people's feelings were ALREADY hurt.

NOTHING about this was "nice" to begin with!

Difference is, when YOU cry me a river, you can build me a bridge, and get right the fuck over it. A person who's the product of incest cries and has to go right back to every shitty banjo-hunchback-hapsburg joke they've heard before, just feeling more unsafe about a space that PRETENDS to care about the abuse they experienced. i feel like the thing that really gets to me personally about chara undertale specifically is that at the heart of the story, everything is happening because they were just so loved and nobody (except flowey/asriel) knows about why they died.

toriel visits their grave often, and has never really recovered from losing her children. she took their body and carried it all the way back to the ruins. considering monster customs, this is probably the first time she had ever actually buried someone. it’s grim, but it was out of love.

asgore essentially carries out the remainder of their plan, despite never knowing that there was a plan. he declares war on humanity in the name of both of his children. he has golden flowers everywhere, which only started growing after their death.

literally just. everything about flowey. flowey is the core driving force of the plot, and everything he does essentially comes down go being about his trauma and his grief. this should probably be an entirely separate post

AND ALSO the golden flowers are everywhere and so indicative of them and the grief surrounding that. toriel tries to move on, so you don’t really see many in her home but she visits the grave. asgore has them everywhere and when you get to the throne room, its covered. flowey just straight up IS a golden flower.

the other thing that is interesting is that nobody except flowey (and technically alphys) knows why or how they died. and honestly? it does not really matter. knowing wouldn’t change anything. they’re dead either way. asriel had to carry the burden of that knowledge alone, which is another separate post.

but Yes anyways this is getting Long but the point is that it just makes me insane that chara was just so so loved. it didn’t matter that they were troubled or came from a bad situation, it didn’t matter that maybe they “weren’t the greatest person” or anything. they had a place they belonged, they had it really good for a while and they couldn’t handle that but they were very loved and that is the heart and driving force of the story and i

Honestly the best way I can describe the 2nd season of Arcane is written by extremely competend writers who bit off way more than they could chew. Especially in that short of a timeframe.

It's possible that it was a higher up decision for future League shows, but the focus on the Black Rose & magic worldbuilding took away focus from the core cast and the narrative of 2 cities/sisters opposed to one another. They desperately needed at least 3 more episodes

The writers are competent, but they made some deliberate choices I don't like and pulled focus from things I believe they should've left in focus. It feels like the entire narrative of the show got changed between seasons, and maybe it was always the intention and I should rewatch the entire show front-to-back without a massive hiatus in-between them for me to get it, but from my current standing... It could've been more, and the things that they did focus on and give time to were really good. It's just that the show lost its priorities and primary narrative along the way

i really do believe a huge part of why jbolle89's Summer Gods gets rec'd so fucking consistently as Thee charden fic is because every other goddamn fic is charlie whump where dennis is a cartoon villain who does evil things for the sake of being evil perhaps (!) the underlying appeal of charden is the fact that dennis deeply cares for charlie and doesn't want to hurt him just for the sake of it. maybe dennis is naïve and trusting and charlie takes advantage of that, yet it never makes dennis underestimate him any less. maybe this makes him even more fond of charlie, because he isn't willing to roll over and do tricks; he's willing to challenge him, expose dennis' farce of "control", because charlie only lets him believe he's in charge as long as it's mutually beneficial. maybe charlie doesn't need a father, but he wants to feel safe, knowing that someone's looking out for him. maybe den's relationship with charlie humanizes him, and maybe charlie's relationship with dennis demonstrates he's not as stupid as everyone seems to believe. maybe they're just a couple of lost boys out of time, and the thing they both look for in each other is deeply Weird to everyone else but them (maybe it's also Weird to them, but they'll never delve into that). maybe the knowledge that they will always be there for the other to run back to is the most important element of their relationship. because what could be more terrifying to a child trapped in an adult's body than change?
